About

It is an absolute privilege to work with clients to improve their quality of life, and I welcome the opportunity to join you in your wellness journey. I am a board-certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist serving in Madison, Wisconsin and the surrounding communities. I earned my medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Following, I completed three-years of general psychiatry residency at Barnes Jewish Hospital-Washington University in St Louis, followed by a two-year fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. I am also a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Wisconsin Psychiatric Association. I have experience working with patients in a multitude of settings including in-patient psychiatric hospitalization for children through adulthood, consultation liaison psychiatry, intensive outpatient treatment, and community psychiatry. Woods Psychiatry and Wellness LLC is my newest endeavor, working with clients in private practice. In addition to this setting, I continue to serve as a child and adolescent psychiatrist at Rock County Human Services, supporting children and families in the Comprehensive Community Services Program. I also provide intermittent care at UPH-Meriter Child and Adolescent Psychiatric hospital. I specialize in working with children, teens and families, as well as work with clients into middle adulthood. Areas of clinical interest include mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, trauma and PTSD, attachment disorders, Autism, ODD and parenting skills, and grief and loss. In addition to diagnostic evaluation, medication management and psychotherapy, my emphasis includes broader areas of wellness. We are much more than a diagnosis, and exploring our values, passions, interests, and goals is important to understand the person we are now and aspiring to become. I believe it’s important to integrate broader areas of growth including within relational, spiritual, physical, nutritional, vocational, and creative development. I am inspired by the poet, Mary Oliver, who wrote “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” Time spent dedicated to our wellness is an investment in pursuing happiness, deeper meaning and transformation in our lives.
